Media Research Day – Theme: The Future of Media Use
Welcome to “The Future of Media Use” at Linnaeus University, starting on November 19 at 10:00 AM in Room Lapis Lapis Vi1158 (entrance via Building Culmen) on the Kalmar campus – a meeting place for the diverse range of media research perspectives represented at Linnaeus University.
The future of media use presents both opportunities and challenges. Can future media reduce social inequalities, or do they risk reinforcing them? How do AI and VR influence our understanding of history, memory, and truth? How is journalism transforming in a world of deepfakes and AI-generated news anchors? In what ways are media reshaping future learning environments? How can art challenge established media norms? Can AI serve as a creative co-producer? Who controls the future media landscape – and how can we ensure democratic access?
The Linnaeus Media Observatory turns its focus to the future of media use. On the first day of the conference, you will have the opportunity to explore future media practices together with researchers from Linnaeus University’s various media environments. We also welcome colleagues from SMEA – the Swedish Media Production Academies as presenters.
Come and listen, network, and update yourself on the role of media in society – and take part in the wide range of media-related research conducted at Linnaeus University and within SMEA, offering a multifaceted view of media and their significance.
