MIDWorld PhD-workshop
The doctoral school Multimodality and Intermediality: Humanist Research in a Digital World (MIDWorld) invites PhD students to participate in an engaging workshop at Linnaeus University in Växjö, taking place from lunch to lunch on the 8th and 9th of May 2025.
Titled "Stronger Together: How Multimodality and Intermediality Can Support Each Other," the workshop will feature presentations, collaborative group work, and open discussions. It will open with an introductory session, "Why Bother about Modes and Media?" presented by Beate Schirrmacher and Signe Kjær Jensen.
Multimodality and intermediality approach the mixedness human communication from different perspective and they ask different research questions. Therefore, scholars of both fields easily tend to consider analysis within the other field to be slightly out of focus. With this workshop, we want to encourage the participants to switch between the perspectives and tentatively explore in discussion what zooming in an zooming out between modes and media might add to their project.
The interdisciplinary graduate school Multimodality and Intermediality: Humanist Research for a Digital World (MIDWorld) is funded by Swedish Research Council (VR) and a collaboration between the Linnaeus University Centre for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS) the Centre for Research in the Humanities and the research team in Multimodal Communication at Örebro University.
