Gunlög Fur, Linnaeus University
Gunlög Fur is Professor of History at Linnaeus University and founder of the Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies. Gunlög’s work focuses on colonialism, cultural encounters and gender to investigate what happens when people meet and draw lines that differentiate, create, and alter relations between collectives and individuals. She has worked extensively on Native American history, as well as on the historical experiences of other indigenous peoples, such as the Sámi people of Northern Scandinavia. Currently, Gunlög is PI on the project Borderlands of Swedish-Indigenous Encounters, funded by Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.

Nordic Colonialism in 2026: The Truth Commissions and their Outcomes
Abstract
Nordic Colonialism in 2026 brings together researchers and stakeholders connected to the Sámi Truth Commissions across the Nordic region. Including a seminar on the consequences of Swedish interventions in Sámi life, and a roundtable dedicated to examining the Truth Commissions and their outcomes in Sweden, Norway and Finland, the event will examine pressing issues related to contemporary Nordic colonialism, as well as their historical legacies.
The seminar will be held in English.
