311 years with Linné: The colonialism(s) of Carl von Linné

Carl von Linné is celebrated across the world for his taxonomies and writing on the natural world. In this presentation Linda Andersson Burnett and Bruce Buchan will discuss how Linnaeus’s classifications together with his influential writing on how to travel influenced and shaped colonial expeditions both in Sápmi, and in a large number of overseas colonial territories where naturalist applied his work in their narration and classification of the natural world and its human inhabitants.
