Ebbe Westergren and Evert Vedung

Archaeologist and political scientist new honorary doctors

This year, the faculties at Linnaeus University have appointed two new honorary doctors. It is the archaeologist Ebbe Westergren and professor emeritus Evert Vedung who have been appointed honorary doctors for 2018.

Ebbe Westergren works as an archaeologist at Kalmar läns museum. The faculty of arts and humanities has, with support from the board of teacher education, appointed him honorary doctor at Linnaeus University.

Motivation:

"Ebbe Westergren has made prominent contributions to society within cultural heritage studies, archaeology, history education, pedagogy and educational science. For many years, he has promoted the development of research and education at the faculty of arts and humanities. Through his driving force, Ebbe Westergren has been an inspiring collaboration partner who has had a crucial influence on the development of collaborations that have linked Linnaeus University and Kalmar läns museum with a number of local, regional and international partners".

Evert Vedung is professor emeritus in political science. The faculty of social sciences has appointed him honorary doctor at Linnaeus University.

Motivation:

"Evert Vedung has contributed to the establishment of a university-wide research network within evaluation research at Linnaeus University. As a highly appreciated lecturer, he has been an important influence who through his personal commitment has contributed to the knowledge development among doctoral students. He has generously shared experiences from his earlier career in both Sweden and abroad".
