In case you as a student show the slightest symptoms, you should take a covid-19 test. You can test yourself free of charge in both Kalmar and Växjö. In order to prevent the spread of infection and local breakouts – test yourself also when you show only mild symptoms.
Now that everyone has returned to the university after the summer, the virus can easily spread. During the upcoming weeks, it is important that you keep a limited circle of contacts and do your best to minimise the risk of spreading infection in connection to, for instance, coffee breaks, lunches, and parties.
Keep in mind that you should isolate yourself and avoid all social contacts in case you show any symptoms at all, if you are awaiting a covid-19 test result and/or if you have been tested positive for covid-19. In case you test positive for covid-19, you will be contacted by health care staff for further instructions.
Covid-19 symptoms are similar to those of a common cold or flu. Some people get seriously ill while most who get the disease become only mildly ill and will not be aware that it is covid-19.
You can experience one or several of the following symptoms:
- respiratory problems
- a cold
- nasal congestion
- sore throat
- joint and muscle ache
Some people get stomach ache and diarrhea. Some get rashes that can look very different from person to person. It is common to temporarily lose your sense of smell and taste. Many who are infected with the virus also feel very tired.
The symptoms often show about three to five days after infection. Sometimes, however, it can take up to 14 days.
Testing is free of charge for all students.
Note: The test kit must be picked up and returned by a healthy person. This means that if you have symtoms, you must ask someone else to pick up and return your test kit.
