Cancelled introduction activities in Kalmar

Possible infection with covid-19 is now suspected also among students in Kalmar who have participated in the introduction activities. At Linnaeus University, we follow the measures decided on by the authorities to minimise the risk of spread of infection. Therefore, Linnaeus Union, in consultation with the university, decided yesterday to cancel Saturday’s Gardenparty and to pause all other planned introduction activities until any spread of infection has been confirmed. Introduction activities in Växjö were cancelled earlier this week.

It is now important that everyone who feels the slightest symptoms book an appointment to get tested via 1177.se. You can choose when to collect your test kit for self-test and at what pharmacy to collect it (see list on 1177.se). International students in Kalmar who want to get tested should contact their nearest health clinic.

“It goes without saying that it feels really sad to have to take these measures in both Växjö and Kalmar, but we must take responsibility for the current situation. The student union and the university have held a close dialogue about how we can handle the current situation and we have come to an agreement that this is necessary in order to reduce the risk of continued spread of infection – regardless of how sad it is”, says Anton Jakobsson, chair of Linnaeus Union.

“What is important now is that you continue to take care of each other. Do not arrange parties of your own, as this would risk contributing to further spread of infection. Take care of yourself and others!”, Jakobsson concludes.
