Stefan Amirell New Director for LNUC Concurrences

Historian Stefan Eklöf Amirell takes over as the Director for Linnaeus University Centre for Concurrences in Colonial and Postcolonial Studies from January 2021. He replaces Professor Johan Höglund, who has led the Centre during the last four years and who will continue as a member of the Centre and of the steering group.

-The Centre is currently in a very dynamic phase and has been tremendously successful over the past years both in terms of the research that we have produced and the amount of external funding that we have received, says Stefan Amirell. It will be an honour and a pleasure to continue the impressive work that Johan has done in order to achieve the current momentum and to continue to develop the Centre, based on the interests and comptetences of its around 25 members.

Among the priorities for the Centre’s research in the coming years are Environmental studies from a historical and postcolonial perspective. I would also like to continue to develop several of the current focus areas of the Centre, such as Migration and Integration Studies and Global History, Stefan Amirell says.
