Researchers from all over the world discuss digitalisation

The future of work, education and healthcare are some of the areas that are changing due to digitalisation. On 15–16 February, Linnaeus University gathers more than a hundred researchers from all over the world for a symposium on the theme digital transformations.

More than 150 attendants from Europe, U.S. and Asia have registered to discuss the challenges and possibilities that digital technology pose for their respective fields. The event is held as part of Linnaeus University’s initiative for knowledge environments, which aims to connect knowledge from separate research disciplines.

“The societal challenges involving digitalisation are complex and calls for knowledge and scope that combines different perspectives and angles”, says Marcelo Milrad, professor of media technology and research leader at Linnaeus University’s knowledge environment Digital Transformations.

Among the keynote speakers are Jay Liebowitz from Seton Hall University in the U.S., who examines the changing role of universities in a digital world; Teresa Cerrato Pargman from Stockholm University, who brings up ethical and social questions about the use of artificial intelligence in the public sector; and Carsten Sørensen from London School of Economics, who speaks about digital business development.

“We are incredibly happy to have so many good and well-known researchers as keynote speakers at our symposium. That they have accepted their invitations also means that our ongoing work in the field of digital transformations is on the right track”, says Soumitra Chowdhury, senior lecturer and coordinator for the symposium.

The symposium is held on campus at Linnaeus University in Växjö as well as online. This way, researchers from all over the world can attend.

“This is yet another example of how digital transformations create new ways for us to share and generate new knowledge”, says Marcelo Milrad.
