Elvira at work

Alumni story: Elvira works as a digital communicator and graphic designer

Elvira has had an interest in photography and film for a long time. Her creativity led her to choose the creative media programme. Today, she works at Göteborg & Co with full focus on communication for the celebration of Gothenburg's 400th anniversary.

After completing her studies, Elvira had some difficulty finding the right job. Therefore, she started looking for internships instead, partly to gain more experience and partly to see if it could lead to something.

"After graduation, I applied for an internship at Göteborg & Co in Gothenburg with focus on communication for Gothenburg's 400th anniversary. After three months of internship, I had the opportunity to apply for a position within the organisation, so I applied and I got the job".

Today, she works as digital communicator and graphic designer at the in-house agency for Gothenburg's 400th anniversary.

"Göteborg & Co is tasked with getting more people to discover and choose Gothenburg. What I work on is the communication for the celebration of Gothenburg's 400th anniversary. I am responsible, among other things, for the jubilee's social media and website. I also plan content for our digital channels, create content, write texts, edit videos, design our website, and other graphic productions," says Elvira.

For Elvira, no two days are the same. She enjoys her work where she is constantly challenged by different tasks.

"I get to do so many different things. I like my tasks, and I enjoy being part of my team at the in-house agency. But I would say that the very best part is that I get to work with the whole city and communicate to the people of Gothenburg about something as fantastic as a celebration and the development of our city," Elvira continues.

The creative media programme consists of equal parts communication and media production, which reflects Elvira's professional role today.

"That combination on the programme has been really useful in my professional life. I got to learn how to use the Adobe CC programs, which I work with daily now. A day at work consists of meetings at the office, both digital and physical. It can be communication planning or meetings about various projects that need to be communicated. Sometimes, I'm out documenting for our channels, for example, about different anniversary initiatives in the city," Elvira continues.

She remembers her time at Linnaeus University with joy and can recommend the creative media programme to others who share her interests.

"It was three good years that were both fun and educational. Kalmar is also a fantastic city, and I will remember the time there as one of the best times of my life. If you have an interest in communication and media production, you should definitely apply to the programme. It's a good programme for someone who is creative. The programme was quite new when I started, and I’m sure it’s even better today. The programme helped me find out what I wanted to do," concludes Elvira.
