The Asylum Commission
The three year long work of Asylum Commission where LNUC member Associate Professor Torun Elsrud has been part of the steering group, has come to an end.
The commission is a collaboration between civil society, researchers, and professionals, which carries out interdisciplinary research and studies of fundamental legal principles for people who have sought protection in Sweden. In August 25, 2022, the commission invited scholars and asylum rights activists to an international conference in Malmö on the theme "Contesting Violent Border Regimes". During the conference were the results from the commission presented and testimonies from activists active in Denmark, Greece, Poland, Portugal and Turkey shared. The commission’s website was launched which give an overview of contemporary migration policies, research, and a database where all collected material is organized and made available for future projects and research.
