Pilot EUniWell student delegation to follow the COP29 negotiations

Master and PhD students - opportunity to participate in new EUniWell project!

The project aims to create a pilot EUniWell student delegation to follow the COP29 negotiations which takes place in Baku in Azerbaijan 11–22 November.

The project objective is for the students to produce policy briefs on key issues which they will present at a final conference in Florence at the end of February 2025.

This Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) is intended to be a pilot initiative that will lay the groundwork for the creation of a future EUniWell delegation that could participate in future UNFCCC COP negotiations.

Please note that at the end of the BIP the students will receive 3 ECTS.

University of Florence aim to complete the selection of students by the end of October. The launch of the pilot student delegation is planned for launch in early November.

Blended Intensive Programs (BIP)
These are short, intensive programmes that use innovative ways of learning and teaching, including the use of online cooperation. The intensive programme should have added value compared to existing courses or trainings offered by Linnaeus University. By enabling new and more flexible mobility formats that combine physical mobility with a virtual part, blended intensive programmes aim at reaching all types of students from all backgrounds, study fields and cycles.

What is COP?
COP, which stands for Conference of Parties, is the series of formal meetings Conference of Parties, where governments assess global efforts to advance the Paris Agreement and the Convention, also limit global warming to 1.5°C as informed by the latest science. At COPs, world leaders come together to measure progress and negotiate the best ways to address climate change.

There are now 198 Parties (197 countries plus the European Union) to the Convention, constituting near universal membership. The next Conference will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in November 2024.
