a classroom with some students

Kick off at Linnaeus university for Thorén Framtid and EXTEND.T.2

In early April, an intensive effort began in collaboration with a team of high school teachers from Thorén Framtid school in Växjö. During the course of two weeks, a few workshops have taken place where teachers worked together with Linnaeus University´s project team to plan the interventions in the classrooms.

The start of the students’ work with EXTEND.T.2 took place on April 24th when three classes with a total of 72 students came to Linnaeus University. For many of the students, this was their first time at the university and after being warmly welcomed, the visit began with first introducing Linnaeus University and the university team in the project. Then, Dr Juan Velasquez, a senior lecturer at Linnaeus University and expert in Design Thinking, took over and explained how he has used the Design Thinking method in a water-saving project, “Valuing Water”. The students found it both interesting and a bit challenging. After

listening for a while, it was time for the students to try it out themselves and we introduced them to a game developed with Choico. This is one of the digital tools we will use in schools. The day ended with a Wooclap quiz focusing on the day’s activities. Now, another 8 meetings with all three classes are awaited.
