Professor Daiana de Oliveira on Forbes Brazil top 50 women in agriculture list
Daiana de Oliveira, professor at Linnaeus University, is noticed for her research in sustainable animal welfare. Forbes Brazil has named her one of the country’s most influential women globally in the agricultural sector.
“I feel deeply honored for this acknowledgement. It reflects the impact of my research for the welfare of farm animals” says Daiana de Oliveira, professor at the Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences.
Daiana de Oliveira’s research addresses a wide range of critical questions in farm animal welfare. She leads research on the effects of climate change on animal welfare across Europe, projecting future climatological changes.
“As a project manager on the large European project PATHWAYS I am focused on future sustainable livestock systems, where animal welfare is an integral component, as this is essential for creating truly sustainable food systems” says Daiana de Oliveira.
Her research also explores how personality develops in cows and how they adopt strategies to cope with their environment, toilet training for cattle, and the development for new metrics for assessing animal welfare.
Daiana de Oliveira is a professor in farm animal welfare at Linnaeus University since March 2024. The professorship, made possible by long-term funding from Marie-Clarie Cronstedt’s foundation, enables strengthened research on animal welfare in one of Sweden’s most animal-dense regions.
