Early this morning, a number of people set up tents in the middle of Linnaeus University in Växjö and started a demonstration for Palestine.
"As a university, we stand for democracy, freedom of speech, and human rights. As a government authority, we do not take a stance on the issue the demonstration concerns. We are an institution that conducts research and education, and it is through knowledge that we create a foundation for an objectively substantiated public debate", explains vice-chancellor Peter Aronsson.
"Every citizen has the right to express their opinion, but campus is a place where everyone should feel safe and welcome".
The Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions (SUHF) has an extraordinary general meeting today due to the ongoing demonstrations in several higher education institutions in Sweden. After that, a joint statement will be issued.
