The application to Thomas Carlzon's scholarship fund is now open!

With the Thomas Carlzon Scholarship Fund, Linnaeus University wants to annually during the years 2023 – 2025 draw attention to successful students on the programme Innovation through business, engineering and design.

During his time as CEO of IKEA AB, Thomas Carlzon was an important person for the development of Växjö University and later Linnaeus University. He was known as a dedicated leader within IKEA but also as a mentor to managers outside the company. At the university, he was particularly involved in educational issues. The Innovation through business, engineering and design programme would not have developed without Thomas' commitment.

Students on the Innovation Master's semester 2 are eligible to apply – all three specialisations.

The selection is based on the following criteria:

  • A letter of motivation where you describe why you are applying for the scholarship, describe your future career plans and where it is stated how you intend to contribute with your leadership for the many people.
  • Study attainment. Number of credits taken in relation to the number of possible credits during the first two semesters (60 credits). A check is made of the total reported higher education credits at the beginning of July.

The scholarship sum is SEK 15,000 / year and is awarded to one scholarship holder per year.

The application i closed, and the Thomas Carlzon Scholarship Fund will not award any further scholarships.

The final scholarship was awarded at Linnaeus University's Scholarship Ceremony on 21 November 2025 in Växjö.
