A few words from Vice-Chancellor Peter Aronsson
A few words from Vice-Chancellor Peter Aronsson:
It was with sadness and dismay that the world received the news of the tragic school shooting in Örebro on Tuesday. This is an event that I find shocking in its brutal violence. My thoughts are with the victims, their families and all those who have been affected by this terrible event.
I would like to express my deepest condolences to the families and friends of those affected. No one should have to experience such a tragedy. We stand with you in sorrow and compassion. The grief is also ours.
At Linnaeus University, we are constantly working to create knowledge and action that strengthens the safety and security of our students, employees and society. I will continue to work closely with authorities and other educational institutions to ensure that our schools and universities are safe places for learning and development.
Our student health and counselling services are available to provide help and support to those who need it.
Let's continue to work together to create a safer environment for all, prevent similar incidents from happening in the future and increase preparedness to respond to incidents should they occur.
/Peter

If you are a student and need to talk about what happened, please contact Student Welfare Office.
The risk that we would suffer a similar attack is very small. But in order for us to be prepared, Linnaeus University has for some time trained teachers and other employees how to act in such an event. A similar training programme adapted for students is planned, but we choose to share the material already now.
The training is called Be not afraid, be prepared and consists of short digital films totalling 35 minutes. For now it is only available in Swedish.
