Linnaeus University annually selects employees to be honored with merit awards for their contributions to academia.
The Linnaeus University Merit Award is presented to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to strengthening the vision of a creative and international research and knowledge environment that fosters curiosity, innovation, utility, and collaboration at Linnaeus University.
The Merit Award will be presented at the academic ceremony on January 31st. It consists of a diploma and 25,000 SEK, which should be used for research, professional development, or other activities that are significant for the recipient’s continued growth within the university’s operations.
How does it feel, and what does it mean to receive such an award?
Anders Persson
Senior Lecturer at the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences
– I am very proud and grateful for this award. It shows that I am on the right path, living by the motto HWPO – hard work pays off!
Anita Mirijamdotter
Senior Professor at the Department of Informatics, Faculty of Engineering
"I’m a bit surprised that I have had such strong impact on our doctoral education that I am now being recognized with this year’s merit award. Of course, I am very happy that my work has been acknowledged and I’m very proud!
This symbol is a proud accomplishment for us at Linnaeus University and the department, which I can contribute to in our collaboration with international and national partners in doctoral education, such as in the PhD School of Management and IT and the EU project Entrust."
Claes-Göran Alriksson
Lecturer at the Department of Biology and Environmental Science, Faculty of Health and Life Sciences
“It feels a little surreal, very surprising, and of course, really exciting! I feel a deep sense of humility and gratitude for this recognition.
It means a lot, and this award is not just for me personally—I'd like to acknowledge my inspiring colleagues and especially all the engaged and curious students I have the privilege of working with. Hopefully, an award like this can motivate all of us to continue developing and improving our teaching.”
Diana Unander
Research and Project Coordinator, Department of Computer Science and Media Technology Faculty of Technology
“It’s very positive that all parts of the organization are recognized. Administration is often seen by researchers as a necessary evil, but it is often the key to ensure projects and collaborations can proceed smoothly with high transparency.
Very satisfying that the work you do on a daily basis is recognized and appreciated, not only as a matter to those you work closest with, but is acknowledged in a broader context.”
