The first-ever Colloquium on Intermediality and New Materialisms took place on May 21–23, 2025 at Linnaeus University (Växjö).
There was a shared interest during the colloquium in breaking down traditional boundaries—between media types, between presence and absence, and between humans and non-human matter—to better understand how meaning emerges in complex, interrelated systems.
The event was hosted by the Linnaeus University Center for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS) and the ICLA Research Committee on Literatures/Arts/Media. It was organized by Professors Jørgen Bruhn (Linnaeus University) and Kiene Brillenburg Wurth (Utrecht University), along with researcher Silvia Kurr (Linnaeus University and University of Tartu).
The days were a highlight of my stay here, says Silvia Kurr who has been a guest researcher at Linneas University and the Centre for a year now.
