Linnaeus University awarded funding from Formas’ 2024 open call

Linnaeus University has been awarded research funding within Utforska – Formas’ open call for research projects 2024.

At Linnaeus University, the following researcher has been granted funding:

Mats Åström, professor of environmental geology at the Department of Biology and Environmental Science: Characterisation and AI-based mapping of acid sulphate soils in southern Sweden – tools for improved environmental risk assessment in a changing climate.
Amount granted: SEK 5,892,863

“Through field studies and AI-supported mapping, we aim to improve knowledge of acid sulphate soils in southern Sweden – an under-recognised environmental risk, particularly in the context of a changing climate. The project seeks to develop tools for enhanced environmental risk assessment,” says Mats Åström.
