Linnaeus University and Blinto have established a scholarship for essays on circular economy

The scholarship is worth SEK 10,000 and is intended to encourage students to explore how companies can collaborate to achieve common goals through circular business models.

The Växjö-based company Blinto is an online auction platform focused on vehicles, machinery and tools for professional users. In collaboration with Linnaeus University, the company has established a scholarship to promote research into circular economy. The theme is “Best essay for promoting circular business models in a B2B context”. The winner will be selected in the summer of 2025.

“For us, this is a fantastic opportunity to inspire tomorrow’s financial managers and entrepreneurs to find sustainable solutions that can make a real difference in the long term”, says Richard Nilsson, CEO of Blinto.

More research is needed

Circular business models represent an innovative way to create value while addressing global challenges. However, further research is needed to develop these.

Per Servais, professor at Linnaeus University, views the initiative positively and emphasises the importance of encouraging students to explore circular economy.

“Ecodesign regulations and requirements for digital product passports are expected to have a significant impact on small and medium-sized enterprises. The challenges relate both to the total amount of environmental and sustainability-related information that must be produced, and to specific requirements related to, for instance, chemicals and climate impact, but above all the traceability in the circular chains. It is, therefore, important that students are encouraged to address these issues in their essays”, says Per Servais.

A winner will be selected in the summer of 2025 by a jury composed of representatives from both Blinto and the School of Business and Economics at Linnaeus University.

“We are excited to follow the students’ engagement and interest, and we hope that the support for new research will contribute to a future where sustainable solutions are an integral part of business”, Richard Nilsson concludes.

Blinto welcomes essays in both Swedish and English.
