Professor from Jönköping named Honorary Doctor at Linnaeus University
The School of Business and Economics has appointed Leif Melin, Professor Emeritus of Business Administration at Jönköping University, Sweden, as an honorary doctor at Linnaeus University. He will be formally conferred during Linnaeus University's Academic Ceremony on 30 January, 2026.
“It is with great pleasure that we appoint Leif Melin as an honorary doctor,” says Andreas Stephan, Dean of the School of Business and Economics. “Through his research on strategic change processes and the ownership and governance of family businesses, as well as his commitment to the School of Business and Economics, he has been an important source of inspiration for research, education, and collaboration.”
Leif Melin is being recognized for his significant contributions as a member of the advisory board of SmålandsNavet, where he has helped strengthen collaboration between the university and the regional business community. SmålandsNavet is an initiative by Linnaeus University focused on small and medium-sized enterprises in the rural areas of Småland, offering opportunities for knowledge exchange with researchers, students, and other entrepreneurs. It is funded by the Kamprad Family Foundation.
Leif Melin has also played a key role in the development of the School of Business and Economics’ research environments, providing valuable insights and perspectives on knowledge platforms during the external research evaluation.

During Linnaeus University’s Academic Celebration Week, January 26–30, Leif Melin will participate in an honorary doctoral dialogue titled “How to Build a Successful Research Environment?”
