Shape the digital solutions of the future – new master’s programme in Informatics

Do you want to help shape the digital solutions of tomorrow and become sought after on the job market? Linnaeus University’s new master’s programme in Informatics gives you the knowledge to master digital transformation and human-centred technology – all closely linked to real projects and professional practice.

Digital technology is developing rapidly, particularly within interactive systems and artificial intelligence (AI). Therefore, organisations need people who understand the technology and can create digital solutions that are both user-friendly and sustainable for society.

“We see a growing need for people who can combine human understanding, data-driven innovation, and strategic organisational thinking. This programme is designed to meet exactly that need,” says Päivi Jokela, one of the three programme coordinators.

The programme provides you with a solid foundation in informatics, where you learn to understand how technology, organisations, and people interact in digital contexts. You then choose to specialise in either Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) or AI-driven digital transformation.

“Whether you want to work with user experience or AI strategies, you will gain knowledge that is highly sought after on the job market,” says Juan Velasquez, programme coordinator.

Studies with direct links to working life

The programme can be completed online or on campus in Växjö. You will work with projects, case studies, and current challenges from both the industry and the public sector, where you can explore your own professional interests. The program offers a balanced combination of theory and practice with real-world cases, research-based methods, and problem-based learning. As a campus student, you will also take part in collaborations with companies and, during the second year, you also have the opportunity to undertake a one-semester internship.

“We want to give students experiences they can truly use in working life – while also providing them with the tools to lead responsible and human-centred digital transformation,” says Frida Magnusdotter Ivarsson, programme coordinator.

After graduation, you may work in roles such as digital transformation consultant, UX designer, IT strategist, AI strategist, digital product owner, or business developer.
