The Stora Linné Scholarship

Are you a doctoral candidate or postdoctoral researcher employed at Linnaeus University? Are you engaged in research on sustainable development? Do you seek funding for a planned research project in this field? Apply for the Stora Linné Scholarship, a grant of SEK 500,000 awarded jointly by Kalmar Municipality and Växjö Municipality. Please fill in the application form below and attach a project description, a popular science summary, a budget proposal, your academic CV (including publications), and a letter of reference from your supervisor.

The Stora Linné Scholarship of SEK 500,000 is awarded annually by Kalmar Municipality and Växjö Municipality to a doctoral candidate or postdoctoral researcher in the field of sustainable development.

Applicants must be employed at Linnaeus University and either be in the final phase of their doctoral studies or have completed a PhD at Linnaeus University within the past four years. The research project for which the scholarship is sought must be conducted at Linnaeus University.

Evaluation criteria
The following criteria will be considered in the assessment:

  • Scientific quality and potential in both previous and planned research
  • Demonstration of the long-term implications for sustainable development
    Degree of innovation
  • Practical application and significant benefit within the region
  • Projects carried out in collaboration with industry and/or the public sector
  • An intersectional perspective should be considered where relevant

The jury consists of Vice-Chancellor Peter Aronsson, Johan Persson, Chair of the Municipal Executive Board of Kalmar Municipality, Malin Lauber, Chair of the Municipal Executive Board of Växjö Municipality, as well as two representatives from the business sector. The scholarship is awarded at Linnaeus University’s annual Academic Ceremony.
