Offensive acts have been directed at Muslim students at Linnaeus University. These acts include the vandalisation of Qurans kept on university premises and used during prayer sessions.
"We take this incident very seriously. The university stands for respect for the equal value and freedom of all individuals as a foundation for our activities. We do not tolerate any actions that violate the human rights of others. There is zero tolerance for all forms of discrimination at the university. The incident has been reported to the police, but at this time, we do not know who is responsible," said Linnaeus University's vice-chancellor, Peter Aronsson.
"Linnaeus University must be a place where everyone can feel safe and included. Freedom of religion is a fundamental right that we must always defend and uphold".
Various safety measures are being planned at the university to support students who may feel anxious as a result of these events.
