The university’s recruitment committee is proposing Göran Hilmersson, Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Gothenburg, as the new Vice-Chancellor of Linnaeus University. The current Vice-Chancellor’s term ends on 30 September.

He possesses all the qualifications and personal qualities required to succeed in the role. I am convinced that he will continue to develop Linnaeus University into one of Sweden’s leading higher education institutions,” says Maria Larsson, Chair of the university’s recruitment committee and Chair of the Linnaeus University Board.
Göran Hilmersson is a Professor of Organic Chemistry and, since 2018, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering at the University of Gothenburg. He has more than 20 years of experience in academic leadership in complex roles with large staff groups.
Next Steps in the Process
The recruitment committee at Linnaeus University submits its proposal for the next Vice-Chancellor to the University Board. At its meeting in February, the Board will decide whom they propose as the new Vice-Chancellor. This proposal is then forwarded to the government, which makes the formal decision.
