[Solved] Updated handling of Windows updates
The IT Department has adjusted how security updates are installed on your Windows computer. These updates are released by Microsoft during a recurring monthly event known as Patch Tuesday, which is when Microsoft publishes security and quality updates (on the second Tuesday of each month).
Previously, it could take up to 17 days from Patch Tuesday before updates were fully installed. The goal of the new routine is for updates to be installed and completed within 10 days from Patch Tuesday.
Installing security updates as quickly as possible is important because they fix known vulnerabilities that could otherwise be exploited for cyberattacks, malware, or data breaches. Reducing the time to full installation lowers the risk of your computer being exposed to security threats.
For you, this means that updates may be installed and require a restart earlier than before, while you still have the opportunity to choose the timing within the specified timeframes.
