We wake up in our homes and look out of our windows. We gaze into an uncertain vision of the future and wave goodbye to a dysfunctional past, to the only world that we have known. Our windows are wide open for you to look into and be inspired. Eyes burning and sight blurry; you do not want to stare at a screen all day and neither do we. We have been forced to shift from physical presence to a virtual world, which has become our only option to come together and share.
From one window to another, we welcome you to Windows of Opportunity: a digital exhibition of the graduating classes of the BA and MA of Design + Change and Visual Communication + Change programs. It can be experienced via a live broadcast starting 18:00 UTC +2 on 27 May.
Being a + Change student necessitates going through massive shifts individually in grieving one’s realities and truths. Here we share 28 fragments of our work, which materialise a process of facing the uncertainty of the future and our place in it. Our ability to be critical of our own flaws, of the norms forced upon us and upheld by us implies a diversity of projects, a collection of realities which are learning to co-exist. Each of these expressions has its own purpose and has been birthed out of a desire to intervene and change a small part of the world. We hold the understanding that these are tiny seeds that need to be nurtured and cared for to have the potential to grow under the right circumstances.
