It turned out to be a wreck about 21 metres long and 7 metres wide. The ship probably belongs to a group of smaller transport and merchant ships, which were in use around the turn of the 1700s.
After investigation, the wreck was covered over and not exposed again until the new university campus began construction in the 2010s. When it reappeared, new investigations were carried out by Kalmar County Museum, before the 35-tonne wreck was buried again. This time deeper and about 40 metres from its original location.
Students Julia Andersson, Wilma Jansson, Wilma Jägerklou, Joakim Olin, Saga Polteg and Bryan Wahlgren in the course Applied Interaction Designhave created a 3D model based on documentation carried out by Kalmar County Museum.
