Informatics, Master Programme
120 creditsTake your career to the next level by mastering digital transformation and human-centered technology. This programme gives you advanced skills to design inclusive digital solutions and to apply artificial intelligence (AI) strategically to drive innovation across organisations and society.
As a student, you will learn to understand and influence digital transformation processes, design technology that enhances human interaction, and get a balanced combination of theory and practice with real-world cases, research-based methods, and problem-based learning. You can choose between two specialisations:
• Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) with focus on designing intuitive, inclusive, and user-friendly digital experiences, where you develop skills in interaction design, UX/UI, and human-centered solutions. This specialisation is ideal for you if you value creativity, empathy, and human-centred thinking in the design of digital systems.
• AI-driven digital transformation with focus on leveraging artificial intelligence strategically to lead innovation, drive organisational change, and create intelligent services. By choosing this specialization, you’ll gain the skills and tools needed to lead high-impact initiatives and guide strategic choices, and become prepared for some of the most in-demand roles in a tech-driven future.
Throughout the programme, you study in an international environment, working on projects that connect theory to practice. Both specialisations give you a strong foundation in informatics and prepare you for a global career.
Career
After graduation, your career path reflects your chosen specialisation. With a focus on Human–Computer Interaction, you can work as a UX designer or interaction designer to create intuitive and inclusive digital environments that improve everyday life.
With a focus on AI-driven digital transformation, you can step into roles such as AI strategist, digital transformation consultant, or product owner for AI-based systems, leading organisational change and developing innovative intelligent services.

International possibilities
At Linnaeus University, you have plenty of opportunity to broaden your international perspective. During the course of your programme, you can choose to study abroad through exchange studies to gain international experience. If you do, you will conduct part of your studies at one of our many partner universities around the world.
Also at home you can gain international experience. Many courses contain intercultural elements. For instance, in the form of course literature or guest lecturers from other countries. In your leisure time, you can get involved in associations together with students from a wide range of other programmes and countries, or meet international students through our buddy programme.

Distance – study where you are
Distance learning can be structured in different ways – it may be entirely online, or include a few on-campus sessions or meetings at one of our learning centres. The common factor is that most of the learning happens online.
You communicate with your teacher and fellow students through a learning platform, which provides access to discussion forums, group work opportunities, and digital meetings. In many cases, you also have access to recorded lectures via the platform.
The advantage of distance learning is its flexibility – ideal for those who want more freedom to decide when and where to study. However, keep in mind that some mandatory elements of your programme may take place during working hours, even if they are conducted online.
