About ISAAC
The International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (ISAAC) is a non-profit organization established in 1994 to promote and advance analysis, its applications, and its interaction with computation. Analysis is understood here in the best sense of the word, including differential equations, integral equations, functional analysis, and function theory.
It is imagined that within ISAAC certain special interests groups will exist which organize workshops and mini-symposia at the ISAAC meetings. These special interests groups are to operate independently and to have representation on the ISAAC Board.
With this objective, international meetings shall be organized by ISAAC for the presentation and discussion of research on analysis in the above context. ISAAC will also support, from time to time, other activities, such as summer schools and exchange of scientists.

Description: In this session we accept primarily talks that are using dynamical systems theory in order to analyze various models that arise in biological applications. The models analyzed may be mechanistically formulated, fitted to data, deterministic, or stochastic. Various relations between such models that arise in different modeling approaches and under different simplifying assumptions can be analyzed. Possible biological applications can include ecology, epidemiology, pharmacokinetics, evolution, physiology, pattern formation, and resource distribution, but are not limited to these topics. A part of the session is reserved for stakeholders with rich contact networks outside academia.

Seminar of A. Tengstrand, Swedish 20th century math. history, 18:10-19:00
Swedish mathematicians during the 20th century – a number of international profiles
During the 17th century, Sweden was a great political power, however, scientifically it could not compare with the countries on the continent. The situation changed after the Swedish Empire came to an end. Carl Linnaeus and several of his colleagues had good reputations and put Sweden on the scientific map. However, the subject of mathematics was still weakly developed. It was not until the end of the 19th century that Swedish mathematics started receiving international attention, thanks to a brilliant entrepreneur who had committed his life to the subject field and had the opportunity to meet the leading mathematicians in France and Germany. He recruited promising mathematicians from dynamic institutions abroad and made Swedish mathematicians raise their eyes and compare themselves with the best mathematicians in the world. For a number of generations, the scientific environment he established trained mathematicians who became internationally renowned and made epoch-making contributions within fields like harmonic analysis, analytical functions, integral and differential equations, mathematical physics, mathematical statistics and numerical analysis. In the 20th century, Swedish mathematicians were awarded the most prestigious, international awards and they are often among the keynote speakers at the big, international congresses that are held every fourth year.

To reach Växjö
It is expected that for most of the participants outside Scandinavia, the most convenient way to reach Växjö is to take a flight to Copenhagen airport (Kastrup), and then continue with a direct train from the airport to Växjö. It takes around two and half hours to go from the airport to Växjö.
If you travel by train from Copenhangen you can find train schedule and purchase your train ticket on sj.se/en
You can also have a look at schedule of trains from Copenhagen to Växjö and back at Lanstrafikenkron.se/en
If you search you will find information in English. At the moment the schedule as a file can only be found in Swedish.
Schedule of trains from Copenhagen to Växjö and back in Swedish
Train tickets at Copenhagen Airport (Kastrup):
1. You buy tickets using a vending machine at the luggage claim (credit card only) inside the airport, or after checking out using vending machines (credit card) or ticket offices (cash or credit card). Tickets are sold close to the escalators to the train platforms. When you have a ticket, follow directions "To Malmø" to reach the correct platform. Make sure to buy the train ticket before entering the train as ticket purchase on board is impossible.
2. There are two train companies, SJ and Öresundstågen. Their tickets cannot be interchanged. Therefore make sure to get the right ticket. Öresundstågen goes directly Copenhagen Airport - Växjö without change of train. SJ trains goes from Malmö to Växjö often with a change of train in Hässleholm. Öresundstågen tickets are valid on any Öresundstågen departure within a certain time frame, whereas SJ tickets are valid for a specific SJ departures.
3. The SJ vending machines sell both companies' tickets, whereas the Öresundstågen vending machines sell only Öresundstågen tickets.
From Stockholm
In the case you enter Sweden from the east (Finland, Russia, China and Japan) it might also be convenient to take a flight to Stockholm airport (Arlanda), and then continue with a domestic flight to Växjö, or by trains.
If you travel by train from Stockholm you can find train schedule and purchase your train ticket on this website on sj.se/en

Our suggestions
Växjö is the very heart of southern Sweden – in the middle of Småland. There is a lot to see, experience, and do here – local handicraft, unique shops and world-class restaurants. If you just want to pick three things to see and do during your visit, we recommend you The Swedish Glass Museum, the House of Emigrants and the steamboat "Thor".

To reach campus
Bus to campus
The best way to reach campus is to take the bus no. 3 direction "Universitetet". Our recommendation is to buy "Visitors ticket". Then you can travel all over Växjö city and you can choose between a ticket valid during 24 or 72 hours. The ticket can be purchased on board at bus or at Customer center at Växjö railway station. If you want to pay on the bus we suggest you use your credit card. If you pay with cash there is an extra fee. The price varies between 67 SEK-144 SEK depending if you choose 24 hours or 72 or hours and your age. This information and more you will find at Länstrafiken Kronoberg
By bike
Many hotels have a bicycle if you would prefer that. It takes about 20 minutes by bike from city center to Linnaeus University.
