HR Excellence in Research

Linnaeus University fulfils the EU's quality objectives for researchers. Therefore, we received the EU Commission's HR Excellence in Research award in 2021, as well as an approved evaluation in 2023. The award shows that Linnaeus University provides researchers with good conditions and a good working environment, which, for example, promotes the recruitment of talented international researchers and doctoral students.

The systematic work with HR Excellence in Research is carried out by integrating the European Charter for Researchers. This document aim to strengthen European research activities and provide structure and support for European research policy. It is directed at researchers, employers, and research funders, and seek to clarify and reinforce the responsibilities and rights of both researchers and employers.

The work covers four areas:

  • Ethical and professional aspects
  • Recruitment
  • Working conditions and social security
  • Training and career development

As part of the application process for HR Excellence in Research, Linnaeus University conducted a self-assessment of its internal practices based on established criteria from the above document. The areas identified in the self-assessment and now prioritized are: Career and skills development, Open Science, Allocation of research funding, and Research communication.
