More about the project
This thesis delves into the realm of school sport programmes, investigating their conditions and the individuals engaged within. The objective is to enhance the understanding of the Swedish school sport system within a global framework. The thesis consists of four articles.
The first article, A Scoping Study of Research About and in Sport Schools 1999-2022, is a scoping study of the development of knowledge about sports schools (Andersson, in review).
The second article, A Guess by an Expert or a Joint Accumulation of Experience? A Study of the Admission Process in Swedish Sport Schools: Perspectives from School Sport Teachers (Andersson & Fahlström, in review), is focused on the selection of student athletes for school sport programmes, i.e., the process and practice of how and through which methods students are selected.
The third and fourth articles are currently in the planning stage, with a preliminary emphasis on enhancing the comprehension of students' encounters during admission to a sports school, and exploring the dynamics of teaching and learning within the specialized sports subjects.
The project is part of the research in the Physical education and sport in transition research group and the Linnaeus Knowledge Environment Education in Change.
