More abour the project
Skills and competence supply is a challenge for welfare-professional organizations, both in the private and public sector. The difficulty in meeting the need for highly educated professional groups, so-called welfare professions, risks deepening the staff shortage and increasing the efforts of existing staff. There is a need for more knowledge about how welfare organizations may create attractive jobs for professional occupations, to develop knowledge, understanding and strategies for attracting and retaining staff in the welfare sector together, and outside of negotiations.
- Part 1, Organizational perspectives on attractive work within the welfare sector, explores through qualitative interviews with employer and trade union representatives from schools, health care and social care, how organizations work to create attractive jobs in terms of e.g. work environment, wages, working hours.
- Part 2, Professionals' perceptions of the conditions for attractive work, explores through a survey study how employees in school, health care and social care (e.g. teachers, nurses, doctors, social workers) perceive their working conditions in order to map attractiveness in the profession and organization.
The project is mainly carried out within Espen Solbakken Nordheim's dissertation project.
The project is part of the research in the research group Forum for Research on Professions.
