More about the project
The project aims to evaluate and enhance the Climate Smart Renovation (CSR) model by integrating financial and insurance packages into the existing One-Stop Shop (OSS) business model. This approach seeks to accelerate climate-smart renovations using a market-driven strategy. The CSR model focuses on overcoming key barriers, such as complex financing, limited knowledge of energy-efficient and climate-resilient renovations among homeowners and supply chain stakeholders, and the challenges homeowners face in coordinating with multiple actors, all of which impede renovation adoption.
In the short term, the project aims to streamline renovation processes, provide tailored financing and insurance solutions, and ensure the quality of energy-efficient and climate-resilient renovations. Long-term objectives include widespread adoption of the CSR model, resulting in substantial energy savings, environmental benefits, and healthier living environments. By promoting energy efficiency and climate resilience, the project contributes to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and mitigating climate change impacts.
A central focus of the CSR model is the dissemination and scalability of its outcomes to maximize impact both nationally and internationally. Through knowledge sharing, capacity building, and stakeholder engagement, the project seeks to spread best practices and lessons learned from implementing CSR in building renovations. Collaboration with financial institutions, insurance providers, and renovation companies will foster an enabling environment for scaling up climate-smart renovation practices and replicating successful models across regions.
The project aligns with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 , 11 , 13 , and the cross-cutting goal SDG 1 . By driving job creation, innovative financing, and customized solutions, the CSR model supports the development of a sustainable, climate-smart society for future generations.
The project is part of the research in the Sustainable Built Environment Research (SBER) research group and the Linnaeus Knowledge Environment Green Sustainable Development.
