More about the project
The aim of this project is to identify bioenergy strategies for the efficient use of forest biomass to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and oil use. Energy systems evolve slowly and strategic analyses of energy systems need a long-term perspective increasing the uncertainties of studies. Examples of uncertainties are the technological development, the complexity of the involved systems, the multiple objectives, and the fuel price development.
We use the system analysis and scenario techniques to study how different bioenergy system in the forest, heat, power and transportation sectors could contribute to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and oil use. The entire chains from primary production to the end-user including greenhouse gas balances in forestry is considered.
The project is conducted by the Sustainable Built Environment Research group (SBER) at Linnaeus University. It is financed by the Bo Rydins stiftelse and is expected to be completed in 2020.
