More about the project
The aim of this research project is to identify and analyse descriptions by future higher education students’ concerning interests and expectations regarding continued studies at university level in relation to: proximity to studies, academic environment, selection of courses and programmes, and presence of research.
The project will focus on the following:
- How is the interest for continued studies at university level described by future higher education students?
- How are the conditions for continued studies at university level described by future higher education students?
The methodological inspiration for the project can be found in ethnographic tradition. In the project, qualitative, empirical data in the form of dialogue-promoting interviews, documents and field notes will be collected and analysed.
The scientific research on these topics and questions is extremely limited. We do not have enough knowledge about future higher education students’ interests and expectations concerning continued studies in relation to proximity to studies, academic environment, selection of courses and programmes, and presence of research. The extent to which we have tested sociological and pedagogical perspectives on interests and conditions concerning continued studies at university level in this context is far too limited. The current research project has the ambition to contribute to knowledge development in relation to the theme of the study by using sociological and pedagogical theoretical and methodological points of departure.
The project is part of the reseach in the group Research in Inclusion, Democracy and Equity (RIDE).
