Cultural and Creative Tourism

This subproject investigates the “business case” for a more sustainable collaboration between tourism and cultural actors. We aim to develop sustainable business model configurations that act as building blocks to inspire collaborations for cultural and creative tourism to sustain cultural and economic value in local destinations.

Purpose

Culture and cultural actors are central to creative and cultural tourism. Cultural activities, artifacts, and resources drive tourist visits to places and generate substantial income for tourism businesses that offer, for example, hospitality and culinary services.

However, there is an inherent imbalance between those that create cultural value and those that benefit from it. With this subproject, we seek to build entrepreneurial capacity, promote strategic innovation, and collective action by means of joint development of business model configurations for sustainable creative tourism with tourism actors and free artists.

Partners

This subproject will engage partners in southeastern Sweden (from Småland and Öland) in joint action to create sustainable business models grounded in cultural value for more equitable value dissemination among actors involved.

Those partners that are directly involved in knowledge co-creation in this subproject will develop ideas and action plans for collaboration along existing and potential visitor flows for creative and cultural activities.
