More about the project

Nostalgia studies is a fast growing interdisciplinary research field, but it has predominantly focused on the thematic, political, historical and sociological aspects of nostalgia.

This study fills a gap in creating an increased awareness of nostalgia’s aesthetic and intermedial aspects in fiction, and how it is entangled with current issues as well as how it is mediated and represented. The project also investigates nostalgia’s potential in ecocritical discourses. The results of this study will be presented in a monograph (Edinburgh University Press, 2025)

The project is part of the research in the Linnaeus University Centre (Lnuc) for Intermedial and Multimodal Studies (IMS)
