Project: Prestudy CEE – Centre for Energy and Environment

To increase productivity in the business sector, it is important that companies, academia, and innovation environments collaborate more. A major obstacle is that small and medium-sized enterprises are not sufficiently familiar with or involved in university research and education. To solve this problem, this project lays the foundation for a Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) which will serve as a long-term collaboration platform.

More about the project

Småland and the islands are an innovative region that needs to strengthen its position in Sweden. To increase productivity in the business sector, it is important for companies, academia, and innovation environments to collaborate more. A major obstacle is that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are not sufficiently involved in university research and education. To address this issue, a Center for Energy and Environment (CEE) is planned to serve as a long-term collaboration platform.

The project's goal is to investigate the interest and needs of SMEs and their specific conditions to become part of CEE. The preliminary study will test existing and new forms of collaboration together with business-promoting actors like GodaHus, which act as a link between Linnaeus University and SMEs. The aim is to create conditions for a strategically more cohesive and long-term effort through the establishment of CEE, which can drive research and other knowledge-enhancing initiatives as well as create and maintain networks between local and international actors.

The project will explore how CEE can be organized and financed through interviews and site visits with companies in Kalmar and Kronoberg. The goal is to create a center that promotes research and networking around energy and environmental issues, in collaboration with actors like GodaHus and SMEs. This center will contribute to a more strategic and long-term effort to strengthen the region's innovation capacity and productivity.

The project is part of the research in the Sustainable Built Environment Research (SBER) and the Linnaeus Knowledge Environment: Green Sustainable Development.
