Project: Queer Metadata in the Age of AI
Queer Metadata in the Age of AI critically explores how artificial intelligence, particularly large language models, can support or challenge the indexing of LGBTQ+ fiction. The project builds on the Queerlit database to evaluate AI-assisted workflows that enhance visibility, accessibility, and ethical representation in queer bibliographic data.

More about the project
This project builds directly on the recently finalized Queerlit project, which successfully developed a specialized LGBTQ+ bibliographic database using dedicated indexing policies and controlled vocabularies. Building on Queerlit's findings, this project will focus on critically evaluating the potential and limitations of AI-based tools, particularly large language models like ChatGPT, in the context of LGBTQ+ fiction indexing. The goal is to inform future development of semi-automated indexing workflows that can support human expertise in specialized bibliographic databases, ultimately increasing visibility and accessibility of LGBTQ+ fiction.
