More about the project

The purpose is to identify and analyse

1. factors in practical and organizational work at senior high schools that are obstructive and promotive as regards students with alcohol and drug problems;
2. the circumstances that the teachers and other professional actors in the Swedish school system need in which to promote the success of students with alcohol and drug problems;
3. implications of school attendance for inclusion, learning, and change in these young people; and
4. implications for the identity construction of these young people related to school situations.

The study takes a methodological starting point in ethnographic tradition (collection and analysis of interviews, field notes and documents in multiple municipalities in Sweden within the framework of secondary school activities, social services and open treatment units).

The project is part of the reseach in the group Research in Inclusion, Democracy and Equity (RIDE).
