Our research
The project Transnational Living Lab for Active Ageing will develop living labs focused on the challenges and opportunities of an ageing population in both Japan and Sweden, and a transnational living lab across the countries. This will mobilise additional international perspectives through the European Network of Living Labs (ENoLL) and Asian networks.
The focus of Phase 1 is on establishing functional ecosystems with stakeholders representing the quadruple helix model in both countries. Co-creation with multiple stakeholder groups, using action research and metadesign approaches, leads to context sensitive, systemic and holistic solutions that create social, cultural, economic and ecological value. The new knowledge of building the living lab with the specific ageing focus, the approaches to co-creation in this context, and the community design innovations are shared across the countries. The teams will identify and systematize innovations in partnerships with industry, municipalities, citizens, co-create scenarios for broader impact of innovations, and communications platforms that further support acceptance, accessibility, implementation of the innovations, and iteratively test their feasibility in the living lab contexts, in Sweden and Japan, and through ENoLL.
In phase 2 this collaboration will result in a transnational living lab, a larger ecology for wider scope knowledge exchange, innovation and business development. This will ascertain continuous knowledge exchange, and co-creation for researchers, students, citizens, governance, organisations, and businesses.
