More about the project
This project builds on an open-ended contract for collaboration between the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations at Universidad Javeriana in Bogotá, Colombia, and the Department of Peace and Development Studies at Linnaeus University. It includes the exchange of teachers and students at a regular basis as well as collaboration in research between two institutions that share a number of common research interests.
The project supports areas of cooperation (student and teacher exchange, exchange of knowledge and skills, teaching methodologies, research tutoring, research, etc.) between both institutions.
Since Colombia is a country that has lived through a protracted social conflict, students and teachers deal with peace building and conflict transformation at a daily basis. This, they complement with their very specific knowledge of a particular case (their own country) the more general and geographically much more extended focus on research and teaching our teacher team has accumulated during many years as practitioners abroad about global peace building, societal conflict development and security challenges in post-conflict environments and conflict transformation.
Research collaboration embraces topics such as development and security arenas in peace building, the role of the military after conflict and the relationship between state security actors and civilians.
