More about the project
Issues of sustainable development are more relevant than ever. Preschool plays an important role in laying the foundations for sustainable thinking and in giving children the opportunity to develop critical thinking that prepares them for active participation in democratic change processes. In this project, we explore how preschool teachers interpret and implement curriculum goals concerning sustainable development, especially in relation to matters related to meals and food. The seed project is carried out through action research, where preschool teachers and researchers collaborate to plan, implement and evaluate teaching practices for sustainable development.
The project is part of the research in the research groups Studies in Curriculum, Teaching and Evaluation (SITE), Research on pedagogical professions and practices (PEPP) and Centre for the Didactics of the Natural Sciences (in Swedish) and in the Linnaeus Knowledge Environment: Education in change.
What is a seed project?
A seed project is a minor project funded by a knowledge environment or a research group at the university. The aim is to launch and promote excellent research. Depending on the financier, a seed project may be to idenfify new or deepen existing collaborations, preferably cross-disciplinary ones, to explore possible research issues in a feasibility study, to collect empirical material, or to write an application for external funding.
