Through the establishment of the centre, a more clear platform is created for the large number of researchers from different departments and faculties at Linnaeus University who work with gender perspectives.
This will make it possible to take advantage of the interdisciplinary character of gender studies to an even larger extent through common seminars and collaborations. In this way, the centre will work for a living gender studies environment and innovative thinking within research and collaboration as well as education - something that will be beneficial for the entire university. The idea is to link the gender studies environment at Linnaeus University with similar environments nationally and internationally.
The board of the centre is made up of Sofie Thornhill (manager) and Aylin Akpinar, senior lecturers in gender studies at the department of social studies; Dagmar Brunow, senior lecturer in film studies at the department of film and literature; and substitute Gunilla Byrman, professor of the Swedish language at the department of Swedish.
Two professors are affiliated with the centre: Ulla Manns, professor of gender studies at the school of culture and education at Södertörn University and Maria Tamboukou, professor of women's studies at University of East London.
