This project will analyse how the police, border guards and coastguard define successful intelligence and operational police work. This qualitative study is based on ethnographic material collected by field observation and interviews. The fieldwork was conducted in 718 hours and seventy-three interviews were conducted with the border police, border guards and coastguard from Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
