More about the project
This three year (2014-2017) project is financed by the Swedish Energy Agency and the Swedish District Heating Association. In this project, the Sustainable Built Environment Research group (SBER) at Linnaeus University studies how district heating systems can develop in changing markets for heating and solid biofuels. We optimise energy efficiency measures in buildings with respect to existing and potential future district heating systems of different sizes, based on annual heat load and how energy efficiency measures affect the marginal production.
The analyses consider competing heating systems. We cooperate with district heating companies and municipal housing companies. The results can be used to formulate strategies aiming for a more sustainable built environment and to support the development of district heating systems.
