Project: To map oneself in a colonised world. Swedish travel literature 1919-1939 and the global legacies of the Enlightenment

The aim of the project is to examine how the Swedish travel literature from the period relates to European colonialisms and to Eurocentric ideas of enlightenment and development. Travel literature from Africa, India and the South Pacific will be analysed with focus on questions related to discourse, genre, intertextuality, gender, ethicity and modernity.
