This individual research project in the field of didactics concerns the teaching of francophone literature in French Studies at the university level with the objective to promote the students’ intercultural competence which is one of the key words in the teaching of modern languages in Europe. The role of the readers’ and characters’ empathy and gender is analyzed in order to achieve a better understanding of the “Other’s” situation
